Even with the last bursts of heat that a lot of folks are having winter is on its way. Now is the time to start those preparations for the yard and your home to insure a good winter.

The one thing, amongst many, that I worry about is our pond. It is small but when our winter gets full blown it will begin to freeze over and the first thing that goes is the pump. Using pond aerators has helped slightly but we do have to have it off and then make sure that all parts are well covered to be able to withstand the freezing weather.

The pond and certain plants are always high on our list of what to take care of. So if you have harsh winters make a check list of all those things that need to be done and get a head start on them!

Don't forget to clean your chimneys or wood stove's either before you use them
