Ostara or Lady Day

After a long week of looking for that special deal of the day for Easter it is now the big day to bake and hide those eggs! I know that my week was spent looking for great ideas to place in baskets that the children would enjoy. I also was focusing on a center peice for the table this year. Decidng upon a nice floral arraingement of bright colors to make the table just pop! With that done everything else just seemed to fall into place for the rest of the planning. I will remove the flowers later and place on my year round altar as a nice bright touch!

Here is a little information on the Sabbat for you!

Lady Day or commonly known as Ostara and Eostre is this March 20th.Ostara is the Sabbat festival of the Vernal or Spring Equinox, the Firstday of Spring.

Celebrated by other religious cultures as Easter, on Sunday, April4th.

This is the time when the light and dark are in balance. Yet thelight is over taking the dark. The light is gaining strength and power. This is the time to celebrate the balance of all things. Balance fromlight to dark, life and death, female and male, not to mention thebalance that comes from within you. Spring brings new birth. The newbirth of the awakening of the plants, trees, animals and even the humanpopulation. After the darkness of winter it is a time of rejoicing andcelebration of the fresh new light that is upon us.

What to do on this special day? Take a walk in a field full offlowers, or if this is not possible, walk in your own gardens. If youare an urban dweller, look upon your plants that you have. Ask the plantspermission first waiting for a sign of permission, then thank the plantfor allowing you to pluck it from the earth that has nurtured it. See ifyou can find any mystical or magical meaning behind your pickings.Meditate on them and see what comes to you. You will be surprised atwhat you may learn, not only about yourself but the plant and why youchose it. Or it chose you.

This is something of importance. This is a ritual that may beaccomplished in the solitude within yourself. A private time of ritualand celebration that may continue in practice for years to come. A timeto appreciate the new growth and season. To gain balance of harmony innature.
